Volumizing Injections to Fill Wrinkles and Lines
The filling of facial wrinkles and lines using rejuvenating injections is performed by Dr. Jean-François Tremblay, dermatologist dedicated to the practice of cosmetic dermatology, laser and cosmetic surgery at the MédIME clinic in Montreal.
What are ‘volumizing’ or ‘filling’ Injections?
Hyaluronic acid based filling products such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Voluma, and Teosyal permit the effective filling and resulting diminishment of facial wrinkles and lines. “Depending on the products and techniques used, I can shape a patient’s face by firming the skin, redefining its contours, and softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles. My priority at all times is to maintain a very natural look which reflects and respects the unique esthetic characteristics each individual possesses,” explains Dr. Tremblay.
What are the Side of Effects of these Injections?
All patients will experience redness and mild to moderate swelling 24 to 48 hours post-injection. In rare cases, some patients may also experience bruising which diminishes over a period of 5 to 10 days. Hyaluronic acids are found naturally in the skin, and therefore do not cause allergic reactions; once injected they are accepted by the body and become completely imperceptible both visually and to the touch.
How Long do Benefits Last?
The duration of benefits varies according to the product used and the region treated; treatment effects last at least 6 months, and generally last from 18 to 24 months. Many of the products used stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production and may result in both immediate corrective and long term preventative benefits.
